Scoop: Witkoff to meet Qatari, Egyptian and Turkish officials in Miami on Gaza deal
"This is the highest-level meeting between the mediators in the U.S. since the deal was signed in October. The meeting is aimed at agreeing on next steps for pressing both Israel and Hamas to implement their commitments. The officials meeting with Witkoff will include Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, the sources said."
"Meanwhile, the White House is trying to conclude its plans for establishing the Trump-led Gaza Board of Peace, deploying the ISF, and announcing the Palestinian technocratic government. President Trump wants to make those announcements in January. Over the weekend, the White House sent a stern private message to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressing that the killing of a top Hamas military commander over the weekend constituted a violation of the ceasefire."
High-level mediators met in the U.S., the highest such meeting since October, to agree next steps pressing Israel and Hamas to implement commitments. Officials with Witkoff include Qatar’s prime minister, Turkey’s foreign minister and Egypt’s foreign minister. The Gaza accord requires Hamas to relinquish power in Gaza, permit deployment of an International Stabilization Force and begin disarming and decommissioning tunnels and military infrastructure. Israel must reopen the Rafah crossing, begin second-phase withdrawal of its forces, allow ISF deployment, and facilitate formation of a Palestinian technocratic government. The White House aims to announce a Trump-led Gaza Board of Peace and the technocratic government in January and privately warned Israel that a recent killing of a top Hamas commander violated the ceasefire.
