""I think the Iranians will wait for an opportunity to launch an overnight 'Great Escape' once they have built up even further storage near the border with Pakistan.""
""They're probably several weeks, or perhaps as much as a month, away from running out of storage.""
Since April 13, the U.S. military has redirected more than 40 vessels attempting to breach a blockade, with 31 Iranian oil tankers holding 53 million barrels stuck in the Gulf. The value of this oil is at least $4.8 billion. Iran is using older tankers for floating storage as on-land facilities reach capacity. Some tankers are taking longer routes to avoid U.S. interdiction. Analysts suggest Iran may attempt a significant escape once storage near Pakistan is sufficient.
