Senior Ukrainian and Russian officials met in Geneva, Switzerland, for a US-brokered two-day round of talks days before the fourth anniversary of Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Representatives from Washington, Kyiv and Moscow attended the meetings, following similar negotiations in Abu Dhabi earlier in the month. Expectations for a breakthrough remained low as Russia continued to press maximalist demands. Overnight, Russia launched nearly 400 drones and 29 missiles in a combined strike aimed at Ukraine's energy sector. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike was deliberately calculated to cause maximum damage and urged international partners to hold Russia accountable. He called for sanctions pressure and rapid military and air-defence support to achieve just peace.
