Rohingya ask UN where is the justice' amid Myanmar violence, aid cuts
"Dear brothers and sisters, you are not forgotten. You might feel that the world doesn't see your suffering. Rohingya see you."
"Now this message is for the world leaders and the United Nations: It has already been more than eight years since the Rohingya genocide was exposed. Where is justice for the Rohingya? Where?"
"He then held up a photograph of the bodies of several people lying in a river, who he said had been killed in a drone attack by Myanmar's rebel Arakan Army in August 2024."
"Why is there no prevention of these inhumane atrocities by Arakan Army?"
Rohingya community members who fled violence in Myanmar spoke at a United Nations General Assembly meeting to call attention to continuing fighting and persecution in Rakhine state. Maung Sawyeddollah, founder of the Rohingya Student Network, delivered a livestreamed message assuring Rohingya that they are not forgotten and demanded justice after more than eight years since the genocide was exposed. He displayed a photograph he said showed bodies killed in an August 2024 drone attack by the Arakan Army and described the killings as part of a systematic campaign.
