Rape accused admits being jealous' over woman's Barron Trump messages, court told
"What I was really unhappy about was that she was frankly leading him (Barron Trump) on."
"I am being portrayed as a jealous person who can lose his temper due to jealousy. I want to just make clear that her actions towards him was wrong and it was not fair."
"I was jealous to some extent."
Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, denies assault, actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, perverting the course of justice and two counts of rape, with alleged offences between 1 November 2024 and 23 January 2025. Jurors heard that Rumiantsev and the woman had been drinking on 17–18 January 2025 and that he says they had consensual sex twice that night. The prosecution alleges he raped, strangled and assaulted her, struck her face and answered a FaceTime call from Barron Trump during the alleged beating, turning the screen to the crying woman. Rumiantsev acknowledged some jealousy and said the woman was leading Barron on; he denied intentionally hitting her.
