Raducanu's failings resurface as Britain suffer bitter United Cup loss to Greece
"In what has become a common theme in Raducanu's career, the 22-year-old entered the stadium surrounded by doubts about her form and preparation after Sunday's revelation that she had been struggling with her foot injury throughout the off season. Before the match, the Great Britain captain Tim Henman described her prospects of competing against Greece as uncertain due to her lack of optimal preparation."
"There were positives for Raducanu to take from the match she had no issues with her movement, and as her competitive juices began to flow deep in the second set, she produced some quality shotmaking to force a third set against an impressive Sakkari. However, after giving herself a chance in the match, Raducanu flatlined in the final games while the Greek, one of the fittest players on the tour, easily maintained her intensity to close out her first ever win over the Briton"
Great Britain suffered a 2-0 defeat to Greece in the United Cup round-robin as Emma Raducanu and Billy Harris lost their singles matches. Raducanu, hampered by an off-season foot injury, showed no movement problems and produced strong shotmaking in the second set but faded in the decider, losing 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to Maria Sakkari. Billy Harris, a late replacement for Jack Draper, played bravely and served well but narrowly fell 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Sakkari secured her first career win over Raducanu, and doubts over fitness and preparation remained prominent.
