"Pay attention, Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees right."
"Traffic's off your left wing by six miles or eight miles. 747, I'm sure you can see who it is."
"I got to talk to you twice every time? Pay attention. Get off the iPad."
President Donald Trump was flying to the UK for a state visit when Air Force One was over Long Island about 30 minutes after departing Joint Base Andrews. Spirit Airlines Flight 1300 was in the same airspace en route from Fort Lauderdale to Boston. An air traffic controller repeatedly instructed the Spirit pilots to turn 20 degrees right and admonished them to pay attention and stop using an iPad. The two aircraft crossed Long Island Sound about a minute apart, with the Spirit plane roughly 9,000 feet below the VC-25A presidential 747. Spirit said flight 1300 followed procedures and ATC instructions.
