Palestinian doctor killed, three people injured in Israeli attack on Gaza
Dr Jamal Abu Aboun, head of anaesthesia at Al-Yafa Medical Hospital in Deir al-Balah, was killed in an Israeli strike near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. His body and three injured people, including a child, arrived after an Israeli drone strike targeted civilians near the hospital. Israeli artillery struck areas east and south of Khan Younis and hit al-Bureij refugee camp. Gaza Media Office reported at least 922 Palestinian deaths and 2,786 injuries since the October ceasefire. Palestinian figures say Israel’s Gaza war began in October 2023, killing at least 72,000 Palestinians and injuring over 172,000. Associated Press testimonies describe dehumanisation, permissive rules of engagement, and routine killings during the ceasefire, including frequent fire on people approaching or crossing the Yellow Line.
