Palestinian death toll tops 69,000 in Gaza as Israel and Hamas exchange remains again
""We do not have sufficient resources or the DNA to match them with the martyrs' families," Dheir said."
""I have not lost hope""
""For each Israeli hostage returned, Israel has been releasing the remains of 15 Palestinians.""
More than 69,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the Israel-Hamas war began. The death toll rose as additional bodies were recovered and identified during the ceasefire that began Oct. 10. Exchanges of remains form a central part of the ceasefire’s initial phase, with Hamas expected to return all hostage remains quickly. Israel returned 15 Palestinian remains, and militants returned the remains of an Israeli hostage identified as Lior Rudaeff. For each Israeli hostage returned, Israel has released the remains of 15 Palestinians. Limited DNA resources hinder identification and unidentified remains will be buried in batches. Settler violence in the West Bank has increased amid the olive harvest.
