Following Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death in a joint US-Israeli attack, Pakistan experienced widespread violent protests on Sunday. At least 24 people were killed and dozens injured in clashes between protesters and security forces across the country. In response, authorities deployed the military and imposed a three-day curfew in Gilgit, Skardu, and Shigar districts in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region, where 12 protesters and one security officer died. Thousands of demonstrators attacked UN offices, burned police stations, and damaged schools and charity offices. Security was heightened around US diplomatic facilities. Officials stated the situation was under control, with curfew remaining until Wednesday.
