Nigel Farage meets UAE ministers and drums up donations on Dubai trip
"There's loads of expats [in Dubai]. Many of them would like to come back to the UK, he said, citing taxation and crime as reasons Britons were choosing to live abroad. I've spoken to loads of people like that, he said, adding that the trip was unlikely to result in any donation announcements."
"They all laughed at us, he said, harking back to remarks he made in the European parliament after the Brexit result. They're not laughing now, are they?"
"Farage's ability to secure an audience with foreign government ministers is a new development, as his diplomatic ties have previously been largely with Donald Trump's US administration."
Nigel Farage made a two-night visit to Dubai to build relations with United Arab Emirates ministers and court donations from wealthy British expats. The trip followed an earlier 10,000 trip hosted by Abu Dhabi to attend the Formula One grand prix. An interview with an unnamed UAE minister took place during a GB News event attended by UAE industry minister Sultan Al Jaber and other high-profile figures. Farage spoke to many British expats about taxation and crime as reasons for living abroad and sought backing while noting the visit was unlikely to produce immediate donation announcements.
