New Cambodia-Thailand clash: What's up with the other wars Trump ended'?
"Deadly fighting has erupted between Thailand and Cambodia, weeks after the two sides signed a ceasefire deal in Malaysia presided over by United States President Donald Trump. Now the Trump-brokered peace agreement is on the brink of collapse after soldiers from the two Southeast Asian neighbours clashed again on Monday. At least 12 people have been killed and thousands displaced from both sides as clashes continued for the second day."
"Nearly 50 people were killed and 300,000 displaced during the five-day fighting in July before Trump intervened to broker a ceasefire. Trump has claimed to have stopped at least eight wars since he took office in January. But several of the conflicts he claimed to have resolved continue to fester. Since the multi-phase Gaza ceasefire deal was announced by the US president in October, Israel has killed more than 400 Palestinians in violation of the deal."
The United States president has claimed credit for ending eight wars, but several of those ceasefires have not held. Fighting erupted again between Thailand and Cambodia weeks after a Malaysia-hosted ceasefire presided over by the US president, leaving at least 12 dead and thousands displaced. Earlier five-day clashes killed nearly 50 people and displaced about 300,000 before a brokered truce. Other negotiated deals have also faltered: a Gaza multi-phase ceasefire saw over 400 Palestinian deaths in alleged violations, and a Democratic Republic of the Congo–Rwanda agreement has not ended the fighting. Ceasefire terms included military de-escalation, removal of heavy weapons and landmines, ASEAN supervision, and a ban on online information warfare, yet renewed clashes continued after October.
