""Arctic Sentry underscores the alliance's commitment to safeguard its members and maintain stability in one of the world's most strategically significant and environmentally challenging areas,""
NATO announced the launch of a mission named Arctic Sentry to bolster its presence in the Arctic. US General Alexus Grynkewich described the mission as leveraging NATO's strength to protect territory and keep the Arctic and High North secure. The mission will initially oversee ongoing operations by alliance members, including upcoming exercises by Norway and Denmark. NATO did not clarify whether Arctic Sentry will deploy additional military capabilities. The announcement follows tensions after US President Donald Trump pushed to seize control of Greenland and the drafting of a framework among seven Arctic allies for regional security.
