German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is in Turkey for talks with Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan and other government representatives. Discussions will address the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and support for progress on the next steps of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire plan. A Foreign Ministry statement emphasized substantial potential for cooperation in foreign policy between Turkey and Germany. The statement credited Turkey’s mediation role in securing the historic Gaza ceasefire and described Turkey as a supporter of the peace plan expected to continue exerting pressure on Hamas and play a responsible role in advancing the ceasefire's next stages.
