Mexico intensifies seizure of synthetic drugs with raids in Sinaloa, Sonora and Guerrero

"In separate operations across three statesSinaloa, Sonora, and Guerreroauthorities reported the seizure of more than 41,000 liters and 12 tons of chemicals to be used in drug production. The announcement includes the dismantling of a clandestine laboratory in Guerrero and 11 other methamphetamine production sites in Sonora. In Sonora, between the towns of Culiacan and Mexicali, a vehicle containing 212 kilograms of methamphetamine was seized by the Army and the National Guard."

"One of the blows to criminal organizations announced this Thursday is apparently linked to Los Chapitos, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. Authorities connected the seizure of approximately 25,000 liters and more than 12 tons of chemicals in Guerrero, and the dismantling of a clandestine camp for the simultaneous production of methamphetamines, designer drugs known as tusi,' and synthetic opioids, to Ines Omar Coronel Aispuro, alias Coronel."

Mexican security forces dismantled a clandestine laboratory and shut down 11 additional methamphetamine production sites across Sonora, Sinaloa, and Guerrero, confiscating more than 41,000 liters and 12 tons of chemicals used in drug synthesis. Authorities also seized a vehicle carrying 212 kilograms of methamphetamine between Culiacan and Mexicali. Officials linked a separate seizure of roughly 25,000 liters and over 12 tons of chemicals in Guerrero and the dismantling of a clandestine camp producing methamphetamines, tusi, and synthetic opioids to Ines Omar Coronel Aispuro, alias Coronel. Coronel has a criminal record and ties to El Chapo Guzman’s circle. Operations coincided with heightened U.S. pressure for stronger results against cartels.
