Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to allow Iran to be based in Mexico during the World Cup, including overnight stays. FIFA approached Mexico after the United States made clear it did not want the Iranian team to stay overnight in the US, even though Iran would play three matches there. Sheinbaum said Mexico had no reason to deny Iran the possibility of staying overnight. Iran’s original base was Tucson, Arizona, but security concerns related to the Middle East conflict created uncertainty. Iran is scheduled to play New Zealand and Belgium in Los Angeles and Egypt in Seattle. Iran’s sports minister said FIFA promised visas for all players, and Iran’s federation submitted conditions including visa access for those who completed military service with the IRGC.
"Iran's sports minister Ahmad Donyamali, also confirmed that world football's governing body has stressed that the Iran squad will be given visas to play in the US this summer "The Fifa president promised us that all our players would receive visas. There is no reason why our players should not receive visas," he said. The Iranian FA (FFIRI) had presented Fifa with a list of 10 conditions for their participation at the World Cup, including allowing players, coaches and officials who have completed military service with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to receive visas."
