He was taken to Royal North Shore hospital on Monday evening after New South Wales Ambulance officers treated the man at Manly beach in Sydney's north following the attack. NSW police said the man was pulled from the water by members of the public who commenced first aid before emergency services arrived."

Northern Beaches are closed until further notice with ongoing review. The incident followed an 11-year-old surfer at Dee Why whose board was bitten and a 12-year-old attacked in Sydney's east. Lifeguards sounded alarms, posted warnings, deployed a jetski and a drone; no further sightings were reported before midday. A 15cm bite mark suggests a bull shark and the shark net had been set as normal amid large swells. Dee Why will remain closed for at least 24 hours.
