Streets were closed and the area was placed in lockdown as police launched a major operation after reports of a man indiscriminately firing at motorists, including police cars, along Georges River Road. The tactical police unit arrested a 60-year-old man from a unit above a business on Georges River Road. Officers came under rapid-fire gunshots on several occasions and body-worn cameras showed how close officers came to being hit. A motive remains undetermined and there is no known link to terrorism or gang activity.
