"Jafarawi, known by many as Mr. FAFO, became one of the most recognizable faces of the Israel-Hamas war as he promoted pro-Hamas content on social media. He also praised the October 7th terror attack on southern Israel, which began the two-year conflict and resulted in some 1,200 people being brutally murdered by armed Palestinians. Duwaji posted on Instagram a report of Jafarawi's death, accompanied by four broken heart emojis."
"Controversial Gaza activist, derogatorily called Mr. FAFO due to his performative antics and well known for his support of Hamas and raising an estimated $10 million to build a children's hospital, only to pocket the money, Saleh Al-Jafarawi, was killed today by unknown assailants. He was allegedly accompanying Hamas's Saham unit during clashes with the Doghmosh clan in Gaza City, possibly as a cameraman of sorts."
Rama Duwaji, wife of New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, posted Instagram stories mourning Saleh al-Jafarawi and calling him "our Beloved Jafarawi." Saleh al-Jafarawi, known as Mr. FAFO, promoted pro-Hamas content, praised the October 7th attack, and gained attention through viral Gaza videos and repeat false death reports. Al-Aqsa TV reported that he was killed while accompanying pro-Hamas militants attacking an anti-Hamas stronghold in Gaza City. Atlantic Council fellow Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib described him as controversial and alleged he pocketed funds raised for a children’s hospital. Duwaji’s posts generated immediate condemnation and renewed controversy on social media.
