LIV Golf will shift from 54-hole to 72-hole events beginning in 2026. Shotgun starts and simultaneous individual and team competition will remain part of the league. Tournaments will generally begin on Thursday and be one round longer. LIV Golf League CEO Scott O'Neil said the league aims to innovate and evolve like other successful global leagues. The league is financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. LIV Golf is seeking inclusion in the Official World Golf Ranking after a 2023 denial that cited the league's closed format and potential compromises from team competition. LIV re-applied for OWGR recognition in July. Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau praised the move as aligning with historic formats and an evolution of the product.
