Kim Jong-un praised troops fighting abroad, congratulated their defence of national honour, and said Pyongyang and Moscow stand behind them. He called on soldiers to fight for the fraternal Russian people and hinted at further overseas action this year. Images showed Kim with his wife Ri Sol Ju and daughter Ju Ae. Analysts say the deepening alliance provides an economic lifeline and helps rebuff US and South Korean overtures.
