"Staff at more than a dozen humanitarian aid sites, including three health clinics, have been instructed to shelter in place or leave their headquarters since Thursday, according to U.N. security announcements reviewed by The Washington Post. Israeli officials from COGAT, an arm of the Israeli Defense Ministry that oversees civilian affairs in the West Bank and Gaza, told humanitarian workers in a Thursday briefing that any movement within city limits would be "almost impossible" due to the intensity of operations."
Israeli tanks reached the limits of eastern Gaza City, prompting major aid groups to suspend or sharply curtail operations and move staff south. Tens of thousands of residents risk losing access to vital water delivery and other basic services amid a severe starvation crisis. More than a dozen humanitarian sites, including three health clinics, have been instructed to shelter in place or evacuate, and remaining services are being concentrated in the west. Israeli officials warned movement within city limits would be almost impossible due to intense operations. Some Israeli military leaders have opposed the plan and legal advisers urged careful humanitarian analysis before evacuation orders.
