Israel announced that Hamas spokesperson Abu Obeida was killed in an Israeli airstrike as a major Gaza City offensive continued. Israeli officials credited the IDF and Shin Bet for the operation. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strike targeted the spokesman for Hamas' armed wing and expressed hope he was no longer alive. Israeli forces earlier killed other Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh. A global hunger monitor declared parts of Gaza to be in a famine. Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and others plan an aid flotilla that will disembark from Spain.
