"Ben-Gvir slammed the ruling, accused the court of protecting "abominable murderers, kidnappers and rapists" in a post on X. "We will continue to grant prisoners the minimum conditions required by law," Ben-Gvir said."
Israel's Supreme Court found Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails were not receiving sufficient food and ordered that they be supplied with adequate sustenance. The court directed an end to a food reduction policy enacted by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The case was brought by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), which said the policy caused malnutrition and starvation and previously raised concerns about food and basic healthcare for prisoners. ACRI called for immediate implementation of the verdict and accused the prison service of severe mistreatment. Ben-Gvir condemned the ruling and said minimum legal conditions will be maintained. Leaked data indicate only about one quarter of Palestinians in Israeli prisons are believed connected to Hamas or other militant groups.
