Iran updates: 'No plan' to hang people foreign minister
"Flight-tracking website Flightradar24 reported that some flights started making their way toward Tehran with the expiry of a NOTAM closing Iranian airspace. Iran initially announced closing its airspace to most flights until 07:30 p.m. ET (0030GMT), in a notice posted by the US Federal Aviation Administration, but later extended it until 10:30 p.m. ET. The temporary airspace closure forced several airlines to divert or cancel flights initially meant to pass through Iranian airspace."
"India's Foreign Ministry has called on its citizens to leave Iran. The ministry estimates there are usually around 10,000 Indian citizens in Iran. "Indian nationals who are currently in Iran (students, pilgrims, business persons and tourists) are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport," the Indian Embassy in Tehran said, in a post on social media late Wednesday."
Iran temporarily closed its airspace to most flights, prompting airlines to divert or cancel routes that normally pass through Iranian airspace. Flight-tracking data showed some flights returning toward Tehran after a NOTAM expired, after authorities extended an initial closure window. Reports indicate over 3,400 people have been killed in protests, and Iran denied plans to hang detainees amid the crackdown. The US has reportedly been withdrawing troops from regional bases. India's Foreign Ministry urged roughly 10,000 Indian nationals usually in Iran to leave by available means of transport.
