The site was bombarded during the Yugoslav wars, leading to its decay. After decades of deterioration, local hopes are high for a redevelopment plan worth 150 million euros to restore its former glory as a resort, potentially providing jobs. However, previous development attempts were stalled, leaving the community cautiously optimistic about the future.
