That's the same JD Vance who tried to set up an official visit to Greenland with his wife in March last year, but was turned away by Kalaallit and ended up only visiting the US military base at Pituffik."
The US president has again threatened to take control of Greenland, repeating attempts from 2019 and 2024/25. A diplomatic meeting took place in Washington DC involving Greenlandic foreign minister Vivian Motzfeldt, Danish foreign minister Lars Lkke Rasmussen, US secretary of state Marco Rubio, and US vice-president JD Vance. JD Vance previously attempted an official visit to Greenland but was turned away and visited only the Pituffik military base. After an hour-long meeting at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, the Greenlandic and Danish ministers emerged together, lit cigarettes, and conversed before returning to the Danish embassy.
