"We are going to send a great hospital boat to Greenland to take care of the many people who are sick, and not being taken care of there,"
"It's on the way!!!"
"it's going to be a no thank you from here."
"We have a public health system where treatment is free for citizens. It's a deliberate choice. And a basic part of our society. It's not like that in the United States, where it costs money to go to the doctor,"
"We are always open to dialogue and collaboration. Also with the U.S. But talk to us now instead of just coming up with more or less random outbursts on social media."
The United States announced plans to send a hospital ship to Greenland to care for many sick residents. Greenland's prime minister rejected the offer and stated a clear refusal. Greenland provides free, universal healthcare to all permanent residents and citizens and describes that public health system as a deliberate and basic part of society. Greenland signaled openness to dialogue and collaboration while criticizing ad hoc social media proclamations. The United States has previously suggested buying or seizing Greenland, citing strategic Arctic position, emerging shipping routes from melting ice, competition with Russia and China, critical mineral resources, and an existing U.S. military base important to missile defense and Arctic security. European leaders released a joint statement defending Greenland.
