"Israel has said the first seven hostages due to be released by Hamas on Monday are in the hands of the Red Cross (ICRC). The remaining hostages are expected to be freed at around 10 a.m. local time (0700 GMT). The ICRC is to bring the hostages to the Israeli military for transfer to the Reim military base, where they will be reunited with relatives and undergo medical checks before being flown to hospitals if further treatment is necessary."
All 20 living hostages held by Hamas are scheduled for release in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, with the first seven handed to the International Committee of the Red Cross. The ICRC has begun a multi-phased operation to coordinate returns and will transfer hostages to the Israeli military at Reim base for reunions and medical checks, with further hospital treatment as needed. Remaining hostages were expected to be freed around 10:00 a.m. local time. The US president is traveling to the region for a high-stakes peace summit in Egypt. Israel says it is prepared to release about 2,000 Palestinian detainees after the exchanges.
