After 12 days of conflict marked by airstrikes from Israel, Tehran's residents begin to return home, feeling relief mixed with anxiety. The ceasefire allows families to cautiously navigate back to a city forever altered by the violence that claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands. Despite the comforts of home, many, like graphic designer Nika, express fears regarding the fragility of peace. The conflict was ignited by Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, leading to unprecedented violence in the region and forcing many to seek refuge elsewhere.
“Coming back home after all these days, even from a place where you had physical safety, feels like heaven,” said Nika, a graphic designer.
“I had an incredibly busy life before the war,” said Saba, a university student. "I lived in Tehran, had a full-time job, was studying, and since I lived alone, it felt devastating to leave everything behind.”
