They didn't even turn on the lights where I was supposed to land, he said."

That's why I couldn't arrive on time last night, because I couldn't land where I had said. This morning, I couldn't land where I was supposed to either, because there was information that the helicopter was going to be shot at, he said."
President Gustavo Petro reported that his helicopter could not land on Colombia's Caribbean coast due to fears that unspecified people would shoot at the aircraft. Petro said he was travelling with his daughters and that lights were not turned on at the intended landing site. Security plans and travel routes were changed after the helicopter headed out to open sea for several hours and then reached a different landing point with support from the navy. Petro said the events have kept him in a state of permanent alert, linked them to actions since October, and noted a prior alleged attempt in 2024.
