Bangladesh will hold a general election on February 12 with 127 million registered voters. An interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus administers the country. Bangladesh has over 173 million citizens and ranks eighth globally by population. The economy's GDP is $461 billion and per capita income $1,990, with growth easing to 3.97 percent in the fiscal year ending June 2025. More than 90 percent of the population follows Islam. The country is densely populated and has a young electorate: about 56 million voters are aged 18–37 and nearly 5 million are first-time voters.
