A maritime arms exposition in Sydney showcased advanced naval hardware, autonomous systems and industry capabilities while bringing together navies and defence contractors to discuss shared challenges. Large protests took place outside the convention centre, with demonstrators chanting against war criminals, carrying doves and signs such as "You can't bomb the truth away." Police and protesters clashed, demonstrators were pepper-sprayed and both sides reported injuries. Australia's defence minister framed the event as an invaluable chance to compare notes with fellow navies and consult industry on needed capabilities. The exposition exposed a sharp divide between celebration of military innovation and public outrage over ongoing wars.
