Armand Duplantis broke the world pole vault record at the Diamond League event in Stockholm, achieving a height of 6.28m. This was his 12th world record, surpassing his previous mark by 1cm. The event took place under perfect conditions, with a passionate crowd supporting Duplantis throughout his attempts. His closest competitor, Kurtis Marschall, managed a height of 5.90m. Duplantis expressed his feelings of magic and fulfillment after breaking the record on Swedish soil, emphasizing the emotional significance of the achievement for him and his family.
This was one of my biggest goals and dreams, to set a world record here at Stadion... I really wanted to do it, I had my whole family here, from both sides, it's magic, it's magic.
Duplantis said he was not convinced he had cleared it until his back hit the mat. I almost couldn't believe it, it felt like the very first time I set a record.
