Argentinian President Javier Milei was pelted with stones, plants and bottles during a campaign caravan in Lomas de Zamora, about 20 kilometers south of Buenos Aires. Milei was riding in the back of a pickup truck greeting supporters when the motorcade was attacked; security whisked him away and he sustained no injuries. The rally was cut short and scuffles broke out between supporters and opponents, leaving a pro-Milei woman with rib injuries who was taken by ambulance. The attack occurred days before provincial elections in the capital and ahead of October midterms amid a scandal over leaked audio alleging Karina Milei pocketed disability funds.
The Argentinian president was whisked from the scene by his security but sustained no injuries after his motorcade was attacked, presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni posted on X. Milei is campaigning for the October midterm elections and was riding in the back of a pickup truck while greeting supporters in the city of Lomas de Zamora, 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the capital, when people began throwing plants, rocks and bottles at his vehicle.
The caravan was carrying the president and his sister, Karina Milei, along with other officials. They then quickly left the scene. "Out with Milei!" protesters shouted. Milei ducked inside the vehicle as security guards scrambled to shield him from rocks. Scuffles subsequently broke out between supporters and opponents of the libertarian leader. A woman, who was supporting Milei, suffered rib injuries. She was taken away by ambulance.
