"a sustained, evil and absolutely unhinged attempt to destroy my life. He is trying to ruin my life, he's trying to inflict emotional harm, physical harm on me. He knows exactly what he's doing. Ever since the Kramnik stuff, I feel like if I start doing well, people assume the worst of intentions. The issue is just the lingering effect of it."
"under immense stress due to a lot of baseless accusations-headed by Kramnik, of course. has kind of literally taken a life"
"He is trying to ruin my life, he's trying to inflict emotional harm, physical harm on me. He knows exactly what he's doing."
Daniel Naroditsky, a California-born chess grandmaster and widely followed online teacher, died unexpectedly at 29 and was found unconscious on a couch at his Charlotte, N.C., home; the cause of death has not been disclosed. He posted a YouTube video after a nine-month absence the prior Friday. Naroditsky faced a prolonged public conflict with Vladimir Kramnik, who accused him of online cheating for more than a year without substantial evidence. Naroditsky said the campaign was "a sustained, evil and absolutely unhinged attempt to destroy my life" and described severe emotional and physical impacts. In his final livestream he said lingering suspicion harmed his reputation and career. Peers such as Nihal Sarin reported Naroditsky felt under immense stress and called for sanctions against Kramnik. Naroditsky became a grandmaster in 2013 at age 18 and won the Under-12 World Youth Chess Championship in 2007.
