Sumeet Sabharwal, the plane's captain (left), and Clive Kundar, his co-pilot on the Air India flight The ruling comes after the pilot's elderly father Pushkaraj called for an independent probe into the disaster."
An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Gatwick crashed into a medical college shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad Airport on June 12, killing 260 people. A preliminary AAIB report said cockpit fuel-control switches were moved to a "cut off" position and an audio recording captured one pilot asking why the switches had been cut off while the other denied doing so. US officials reportedly believed Captain Sumeet Sabharwal probably cut them. The Supreme Court found the preliminary report did not insinuate wrongdoing by Sabharwal and ruled that nobody could blame him. The captain's father has sought an independent probe and a plea is expected on November 10.
