Marlen Reusser of Movistar claimed victory in stage 1 of the Tour de Suisse Women, defeating Demi Vollering in a thrilling finish in Gstaad. After Reusser's attack post-Juanpass, the duo effectively rode together for 57 kilometers, building a significant lead over the chasing group. In the final kilometers, despite Vollering's determined sprint, Reusser managed to overtake her in the final stretch, securing both the victory and the leader's jersey, setting the tone for an exciting race ahead.
Reusser attacked after the top of the first-category Jaunpass, flying down the descent, and Vollering bridged to her with considerable effort.
Vollering started her sprint with 250 metres to go, and it looked like she had beaten Reusser, but the Swiss woman came back and passed Vollering on the last 100 metres to win the stage.
