Marlen Reusser dominated stage 3 of the Vuelta a Burgos Femenas, securing solo victory atop Picón Blanco. This victory not only gave her the overall race lead but also the points and mountains classification leads. After struggling with injuries and illnesses over the past two years, including a severe crash and post-COVID syndrome, Reusser's performance marks a significant comeback. Ahead of the 9.4km individual time trial, she expresses both excitement and humor, reflecting on her long absence from competitive time trials.
"It's my first time trial for almost two years, so I almost don't remember," Reusser joked about the upcoming ITT.
Reusser was the big favourite for the Glasgow World Championships but abandoned the race because of mental exhaustion.
She suffered a heavy crash at the 2024 Tour of Flanders, fracturing her jaw, breaking eight teeth, and injuring her ear canals.
Eventually, she was diagnosed with post-COVID syndrome and missed the entire second half of the season.
