Carlota Ciganda claimed her first LPGA Tour victory in over eight and a half years at the Meijer LPGA Classic, demonstrating resilience by birdieing the final two holes. Her 5-under 67 performance gave her a total score of 16-under 272, enough to secure the win over Hye-Jin Choi, who stumbled with a late bogey. Ciganda last won in 2016 and has expressed her doubts over the years but celebrated her victory at a course reminiscent of her Spanish roots. Lexi Thompson finished tied for fourth as she seeks to end her own title drought.
Ciganda hit to a foot to set up her birdie on the par-4 17th, then made a 4-foot comebacker on the par-5 18th to avoid a playoff.
It feels amazing, obviously, after all these years. I knew I could do it, but... you start doubting yourself.”
I love coming here. It reminds me of Spain where I'm from in the northern part of Spain. Very similar.
It's my favorite event on the schedule,” said Thompson, also set to play in the major at PGA.
