WNBA players authorized a strike vote with 93% participation and 98% approval, giving the players union executive committee authority to call a strike if necessary. The vote does not make a strike imminent; players remain focused on securing a fair collective bargaining agreement that reflects their value. Union leadership emphasized the desire for a 2026 season and for that season to allow the league's product to be presented and valued appropriately. The league and players extended the current CBA and will continue negotiations through Jan. 9. A work stoppage has never occurred in the league's nearly 30-year history.
