Marlen Reusser regained the maglia rosa after finishing third on stage 4 of the Giro d'Italia Women. She placed behind Sarah Gigante and Elisa Longo Borghini at the summit of Pianezze. Reusser had previously worn the leader's jersey before losing it to Anna Henderson. Aiming for the overall title, Reusser acknowledged the significance of team support during the climb. She had set her sights on the Giro last year but faced setbacks due to a crash and illness. Reusser's climbing capabilities have earned her past overall titles in other races.
I'm really happy to be back in the maglia rosa; that was the goal today, and as a team, we worked hard to achieve it. We had planned to set a strong pace at the start of the climb, and that's exactly what happened. Liane Lippert did an incredible job.
After transferring teams from SD Worx-Protime to Movistar, Reusser came into this Giro d'Italia as an outright leader and has a very clear target of winning the overall title by the time the race reaches Imola on Sunday.
