Catarina Macario has been signed by San Diego Wave FC from Chelsea for $8 million, the highest contract value in women's soccer. The deal extends through the 2030 season. Macario, originally from Brazil, moved to San Diego at 12 and played for the San Diego Surf youth club. She won two national championships at Stanford and was awarded the MAC Hermann Trophy twice. The Wave's sporting director praised her as a world-class player who will enhance the team's championship aspirations.
