Trailfinders in play-offs by ending Gloucester's unbeaten run
Meg Jones led Trailfinders to a 41-39 win over league leaders Gloucester-Hartpury, ending a 14-game unbeaten run. The victory followed a two-month Premiership Women’s Rugby break after England’s Red Roses won an eighth successive Women’s Six Nations title. Trailfinders moved into the fourth and final play-off place with one regular-season round remaining, level on 46 points with third-placed Exeter Chiefs. Gloucester-Hartpury stayed top with 72 points, with Saracens second on 61. Trailfinders scored first through Georgia Ponsonby, then led 17-15 at halftime with tries from Alivia Leatherman and Haidee Head. After the restart, Jones set up Ella Amory, while Beth Lewis reduced the deficit. Emma Uren and Carys Cox extended the lead to 38-22 during a period when Gloucester had two players sin-binned. Late tries by Lewis, Neve Jones, and Abigail Pritchard were not enough, and a Rosie Inman penalty helped Trailfinders hold on. Exeter will play second-from-bottom Bristol Bears on Saturday.
