UConn, UCLA, South Carolina and Vanderbilt are projected as the No. 1 seeds if the women's NCAA Tournament began now. UConn holds the overall No. 1 position, narrowly ahead of UCLA. The selection committee applies 12 criteria that combine subjective assessments and data-driven measures to determine seeding. Vanderbilt moved onto the 1-line after beating Texas, with head-to-head results influencing its placement. The top 16 seeds will host first- and second-round games. Fort Worth and Sacramento will host the Sweet 16 sites; UConn and South Carolina top Fort Worth, while UCLA and Vanderbilt top Sacramento. UConn's overall top seed provides an extra day of rest before the Final Four. UConn's projected region includes LSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma; UCLA's region includes Texas, Duke and Ole Miss.
