Inside NYU women's basketball record-breaking win streak | amNewYork
"Our goal at the start of the season was to be in the hunt for a National Championship, and when the regular season ends in three games, our focus will shift to that, head coach Meg Barber told amNew York."
"Our goal each game is to go 1-0. I don't really look ahead, Barber said."
"Having a standard of excellence on paper is one thing, but maintaining a consistency of effort and resilience is difficult to do over the course of several seasons. Our players have shown that they are willing to give up what is best individually for the betterment of our team, Barber added."
NYU women's basketball extended a multi-season unbeaten run after recording its 82nd consecutive victory on Feb. 8 over Carnegie Mellon and later reaching 85 entering a matchup with the University of Chicago. The Violets beat Rochester and Emory to continue a roughly two-and-a-half-year streak since their last loss in 2022–23. The program won consecutive national championships during the streak and seeks another title that would be its sixth overall and third under coach Meg Barber, a former NYU player. NYU dominated UAA conference play, faced a close game with Carnegie Mellon, and aims for a fifth straight conference crown.
