Ysaora Thibus, a French fencing champion, was cleared of doping after the Court of Arbitration for Sport attributed her positive test for ostarine to kissing her then-partner, who was unknowingly using the substance. The court ruled that contamination could occur through bodily fluids exchanged during kissing over nine days. The ruling emphasized that Thibus bore no fault and maintained her innocence throughout the doping investigation. Her attorney described the ruling as a significant victory, indicating Thibus exhibited courage during the proceedings.
The Panel also accepted that Ms Thibus' then partner was taking ostarine from 5 January 2024, and that there was contamination over 9 days with a cumulative effect.
The court concluded that Thibus had not intentionally violated the rules. "It is not questionable that Ms Thibus bears no fault or negligence," the news release states.
Joelle Montlouis stated that the ruling was a "great victory" for her client and praised Thibus for showing remarkable courage throughout the process.
The court accepted Thibus' explanation that the ostarine had entered her bloodstream because her then-partner had been using a product containing the substance without her knowledge.
