Lotte Kopecky, the World Champion cyclist, abandoned the Giro d'Italia Women after stage 5 due to persistent back pain. Team SD Worx-Protime reported that she experienced discomfort during the race, particularly exacerbated on stage 4. Kopecky finished stage 5 in fourth place but decided to take three to four days of rest to recover fully. The team confirmed this precaution was necessary ahead of the Tour de France Femmes starting on July 26. Kopecky had shown solid performance before her withdrawal, including a second and third place finish in earlier stages.
