The World's 50 Best Vineyards have just been announced
"For the uninitiated, The World's 50 Best Vineyards isn't simply a roll call of elite producers. It's the benchmark in global wine tourism, spotlighting estates where exceptional bottles come paired with exceptional experiences: sculptural wineries rising out of the landscape, thoughtful tastings, destination restaurants worth travelling continents for and landscapes that stop you mid-sip. This year's edition marks a fresh chapter. It's the first to sit under the broader 50 Best umbrella (formerly The World's Best Vineyards) and the first ceremony hosted in Australia."
"Margaret River's charms run deeper than its cinematic coastline. Beneath the towering karri forests lie ancient limestone caves; above them, ocean breezes help shape some of Australia's most lauded wines, from crystalline, mineral-laced Chardonnays to structured, elegant Cabernet Sauvignons. The region produces only 3 per cent of the country's wine yet an outsized 20 per cent of its premium bottles."
The 2025 World's 50 Best Vineyards list doubles as a passport to the planet's most seductive wine destinations, appealing to oenophiles and tasting-trail devotees. The list functions as the benchmark in global wine tourism, highlighting estates where exceptional bottles are paired with sculptural wineries, thoughtful tastings, destination restaurants and breathtaking landscapes. The 2025 edition is the first under the broader 50 Best umbrella and the first ceremony held in Australia, staged in Margaret River. Margaret River combines karri forests, limestone caves and ocean breezes that shape acclaimed Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons, producing roughly 3 per cent of national output but about 20 per cent of premium bottles. A global academy of wine authorities votes anonymously and retires past No.1 winners into a Hall of Fame including Catena Zapata, Zuccardi Valle de Uco and Antinori nel Chianti Classico.
