Cult Pinot Noir producer opens first tasting room in Healdsburg
""I just assumed my entire life was going to be that exciting,""
""I was pretty bored after we moved back to Mill Valley.""
""In the past, people had to find us through our website and purchase our wines online. So it's phenomenal to have an official tasting room,""
""It will help buffer a wholesale market that's been pretty flat and complement our international sales. As much as we love selling wine in New York, they're not buying much wine.""
Ross Cobb grew up traveling internationally and later founded Cobb Wines in Occidental. He reached his 31st harvest and 25th year making wine after positions at Flowers Vineyards & Winery, Williams Selyem, Hirsh Vineyards, Reeve Wines and Blood Root. Cobb Wines produces about 5,500 cases and specializes in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Cobb opened a shared tasting room with Furthermore Wines one block from Healdsburg Plaza in September. Prior tastings were held at Coastlands Vineyard and a Sebastopol office without a permit, limiting on-site sales and advertising. The tasting room aims to boost direct sales and shore up wholesale and international markets.
